About Stock Transport, Inc.

In 1981, Stock Transport spun off the leased truck operation and opened a brokerage division, as this allowed all leased drivers to become more profitable and independent businessmen. The division grew rapidly and today the company has about 20+ full-time owner operators with their own authority and insurance being dispatched through Stock Transport Brokerage.

Currently there are 13 office personnel including the office manager, Carol Stock, who has been with Stock Transport for 20 years. The Staff includes accountant, Kelly York, along with key personnel Ruth Hanson, Dianne Hobbs, Donna Cookson, Christine RaeBishop and who together handle the day-to-day billing, logs and accounting functions. Also on-site is a fleet maintenance and major repair shop staffed by three full-time mechanics, Gary Henderson, Chuck Petty and welder/full service specialist Allen Lanter. Currently, the major commodities hauled by Stock Transport are steel sheet and coils, lumber, building products and other flatbed commodities.

Specialty equipment recently added to the fleet include truck/trailer combinations that can scale up to 70,000 pounds single coils and permitted load capabilities with the newest addition being stretch trailers that allow the transport of loads up to 80-ft. in length. This expansion is helping Stock Transport gain the growth lost in the 9/11 economic setbacks and steel company bankruptcies. What seemed to be insurmountable odds in the months and years after the tragedy have been overcome as the company had to expand its capabilities and branch out to attract new business.
